Parts
Having finished the gear and wheels...
I finally found these Deckers and they weren't cheap but I had been
lying awake
nights wondering how I was gonna get by with glass pants
these solve the problem, I sleep like a baby now. I worried about the
shipping but it appears that putting them in those U-Haul
lamp boxes does the trick. They fit almost perfectly and with the
fragile vase picture I guess they just naturally get treated gingerly.
Although they aren't 'perfect' they certainly are acceptable and
restorable
Overall they are really in pretty good shape
Job one is to get all of that nasty paint off. It was a different era
when people put paint on aluminum wheel pants
Flash Gordon wheelpants and tailwheels - how God intended airplains to
be
Big Jim and Lilly (with a little Nuvite help) set to work getting these
puppies into the condition they ought to be
On this table lies about $4,000 worth of parts. From front to back,
left to right they are - El Reno oil filter adapter, new accessory case,
new oil pressure relief assembly, BAS inertial reel harnesses,
Stromberg overhaul kit, thrust washers, engine hose clamp kit,
Starter overhaul kit, generator overhaul kit, crank nose seal, valve
spring set, rocker cover screw set, cylinder base nut set,
rod bolt and nut set, Langunitas IPA (8oz) cold, piston ring set,
Bracket filter, engine bearing set and engine rubber hose set
and don't forget the primer line
boxes full of new parts - truely inspirational
The new accessory case weighs two and a half pounds more than the
old one
and a new lower cowl blank that came in a HUGE box from Univair
