Secure now in the "winter quarters" work begins in earnest
Job 1 is to get the gear removed

Things are still pretty disorganized from the move but I'm pleased with how well it all fits and how much room I have to work

I'll be able to polish here in comfort throughout the long and brutal California winter

My current problem is how to get these two frozen suckers out
RH gear and strut shackle bolts (aft, under floor)

Here's the view from the outside

and from overhead through the inspection/service hole

My "other" problem is - how do I get this bolt all the way out on the left side?
The bolt head is already wedged against the lower front skin...

and the threaded end is only just flush with the fwd bushing - it still needs to come out at least another inch

Oddly enough, on the right side - just in line with that same bolt is this repaired damage that I think was caused
by pounding that bolt out sometime in the past

The reapair is okay but it does look kind of ugly from the outside - something that won't improve with a polished finish
So I'm considering replacing the right side skin

Struggling with frozen hardware can lead to stresses in both the airframe and the mechanic so
bright and early this morning I went to the airport for some stress management "therapy"

Ahhh yes, I feel much better now!
