A Buffer Named Jim

The big nine pound Milwaukee has proven itself so effective that I've given it a name - JIM
Not "just" Jim, such as that stoner Jim Ignatowski on Taxi
No - BIG JIM like Marlin Perkin's anaconda wrestling Jim on The Wild Kingdom
The question has come up as to what I'll use BIG JIM for after the Luscombe is polished
Well, if nothing else, I figure I could power a moderate sized grist mill with it

Here's a neat trick I've picked up. Just lay a scotchbrite pad under an orbital buffer

It cleans up the surface real nice. Start with red then go to gray
I intially was doing this by hand but it takes much longer and always seemed to leave at least some
troublesome scratches

After the Scotchbrite treatment a wet sanding

I know some people have had questions about possibly removing the alclad
This is 2000 grit sandpaper that is used to cut and buff automotive clear coats
I think it would take a truely inordinate amount of sanding to blow through the alclad layer

This uniform dull surface - free of scratches is what I'm looking for at this point

After a single pass of BIG JIM and Nuvite F7

Me and Jim at work

On the side I've got another little stripping project going. This is the vertical stab

This looked like crap a week ago - remember?

Who's Ya' Daddy
