Polishing Day One
A 3/4 HP Black and Decker compounding buffer
The Nuvite is applied very sparingly - just a dab. that top one is
actually a bit too much
It's best to do a small area at a time
The products and the steps in the process are all detailed on the
Perfect Polish Website
The first thing you learn when you start to do an initial polish job is
that - this ain't happening in a day
There's still plenty of work to be done here
Yea... that's smoke coming out of the buffer. This doesn't look, or
smell good
So I'm sidetracked onto the sub-project of trying to salvage the buffer
it's a real mess inside but nothing seems to be damaged
It's just packed full of all of this "fuzz" from the wool bonnets and
years of usage
This has been a pretty tough unit that has seen a lot of action
It looks like maybe this could be the source of the smoke
Well, might as well clean it all up, lube the gears and see if I can
get another ten years of use out of it
It looks like this polishing of the fuselage might be going on for the
next several weeks so the updates here
might be fewer unless everyone wants to see pages and pages of little
patches of skin turning lusterous
Wish me luck on the rebirth of the buffer
