The Fourth of July 2004
A Day in America
Out on the Delta the boaters gather to celebrate our Nation's birthday
On this special weekend I've decided to do a truly American thing
my friend Armando has decided to come along
Even though he has had only one - admitedly traumatic - small plane
experience before in his life
He looks a bit nervous - eh?
What we are going to do is fly 275 NM (one way) to Ashland Oregon
Our soul purpose is to just be Americans on this special weekend
burn up a bunch of 100 LL
and eat a Hamburger
and see the sights along the way of course
There truly are some sights to see on this gorgeous day
So far Armando has shown courage befitting his American heritage
Mt Shasta is.....
One Beautiful mountain
Here's our destination - Ashland Municipal (S03)
it looks so nice from up here - can you spell WINDSHEAR?
Armando nearly had to utilize his 'Depends' on the landing as we
suddenly dropped like a wall safe right over the numbers
But he survived and the cigarette stopped the shaking
a true American!!
The pilot was icy cool, calm and collected
all in a days adventure
We grabbed a car and set out exploring this new realm
Downtown Ashland Oregon USA
A pretty nice town, we started our search for what would eventually be
a $200 hamburger
We drove around the valley later looking and dreaming about retirement
real estate
Time to head home again, we pass over downtown as we climb to clear the
mountains
Gotta have one more shot of Shasta on the way home
By George, I think I've finally won Armando's confidence!
Now, the question for this Independance Day is:
SHOULD I BLOW UP MY BEAVER?
YES or NO
