ALASKA TRIP
DAY ONE
Getting ready to head up to Alaska, we decide to check on the weather
Holy....I don't think I've ever seen that much 'stuff' on a weather map!
But we're itching to go, we've got all the gear lined up
right down to the 'skeeter' nets
Yup, we're loaded up and ready to go!
So off we go. Check out my eleven dollar 'hidden bifocal' sunglasses
that I picked up at Longs Drugs
Cool eh?
Flying up the valley was smooth uder scattered clouds at about 4,000 to
4,500 ft
As we got towards the northern end of the valley things began to
thicken up a bit
We did skirt through a few light showers that weren't worth dodging
Up near Lake Shasta there was a solid wall of mountains, clouds and
rain showers
Our flight plan doesn't take us that way however, we are headed north
east towards Klamath Falls Oregon
There's got to be a way through this gauntlet, otherwise it's back to
Tracy
The route to Klamath Falls is no good so we deviate east and decide to
follow this road and squeak over the pass
The other side was much more accomodating but we still had to go
further east around another mountain
to get a clear shot at Klamath Falls
And there it is, Klamath Falls. It wasn't our planned destination but
with the late start and all of the
weather deviations it's gonna have to do for today.
A trip of 3,000 miles starts with a small step
