Local Area: Pt Reyes

Rows upon rows of new seven hundred thousand dollar homes going up everywhere

There's the little clump that I call home on the other side of the tracks near the power plant where a blue collar worker can afford to live

My humble little cul-de-sac

Just down the river a bit is the mothball fleet. This is (was) the USS Iowa BB-61

Both of the ships I was on when I was in the Navy are here now

Some of these boats have been here for a long, long time

This looks like a recent arrival, not sure what the heck it was. Those are some odd looking containers

Carquinez Strait with Martinez and Mt Diablo. We're on our way to the coast then up to Pt Reyes

A whole pack of becalmed sailboats out on the bay

The 'Rock' (Alcatraz)

Always an inspiring sight - Golden Gate Bridge

At least the sailboats have some wind out here

Crissy Field used to be a landing strip back in the old days

Just north of the Golden Gate the coast is pretty rugged, just mountains then sea with nothing much in between

There are trails down to some isolated and spectacular beaches further north

Pt Reyes has long stretches of open beach along both the north and south sides

Those little dots way out there are the Faralon Islands

I guess this is why they call it a Point

Or maybe that end is the 'point'

Now that's a really long stretch of beach ahead

What possible harm could going down to 200 feet do here?

There were actually quite a few people and dogs

Well shoot no wonder, there's a parking lot out here

Okay, maybe 150 feet...

Headed home now over the Napa area and far north end of the bay
